Largest solar thermal plant in Finland
Savosolar has been selected as general contractor to build the largest solar thermal system in Finland to date, on behalf of Etelä Savon Energia Oy for its district heating network, which supplies households with healthy heating. The plant operate as an additional peak load sources during summer season while the main boilers are out of service.

Under construction
Lübeck, Germany (largest solar thermal plant in Schleswig-Holstein federal state)
Summa Energy has been selected as general contractor to build a 9 MW solar thermal system on behalf of Stadtwerke Lübeck Energie GmbH for its district heating network, which supplies households in the Moisling city district with healthy heating. Only 788 pieces of Savo 16S large scale high performance flat plate collectors are sufficient to getting combined with an 3,000 m³ heat storage tank and produce carbon free heat for the needs of all connected consumers.
Additionally, a PV system will be built on site to generate the electricity consumed by the solar pumps, thus unburdening the local power grid.
The scope of supply includes also all the land works, the construction of a technical building and the supervision system to operate the plant in automatic mode.

Brewing is a very suitable application for solar thermal systems, because of the relatively low temperatures used in several production phases.
In the brewery of Flecks in Frohnleiten, a solar thermal system with Savosolar collectors is used to support the hot water production required by the brewing process. The heat from the collectors is stored in four 3,000 litre water tanks for later use in the brewing process. The mounted collectors also act as a rain shield.
At Summa Energy we help our customers to achieve success in their business and environmental work, while striving for the best possible customer satisfaction. See what Mr Peter Blaser, general manager of Fernwärme Ettenheim GmbH, says about our first delivery to Germany.

Half the world’s energy demand comes from heat. 🔥
Heating for homes, industry and services makes up around 50% of global energy consumption — more than electricity and transport combined.
Decarbonising heat is the missing piece of the energy transition puzzle.
Solar thermal offers a clean, efficient and scalable way to meet this need — right where heat is required.

☀️ Clean heat that works as hard as industry does. ⚙️
Industrial operations depend on heat — and it’s often the biggest source of emissions.
Meriaura Energy’s solar thermal systems deliver reliable, emission-free heat under 100 °C for applications like drying, pasteurisation and cleaning.
🌏 The result? Lower energy costs, predictable pricing and a direct path to decarbonisation.

🔅 District heating will play a significant role in the future of clean energy production for heating and cooling. It is forecasted that in 2050 it would be possible to produce 50% of heating in Europe with district heating, as it is the easiest and most cost-effective way to produce and distribute clean energy.
District heating is a highly suitable application for solar thermal heating, especially in networks with low temperatures (<100 °C). Solar thermal is also compatible with integration into any other heating source the district heating plant is currently using. Solar district heating plants increase overall heating efficiency in residential and industrial areas, and the higher yield provided by our collectors makes them ideal for large-scale applications. 🙏
